Garrick Lau

Lead Advisor for Space Sim

Garrick earned an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and worked at Northrop Grumman as a GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) engineer for over six years, contributing to multiple projects, including Mission Extension Vehicle. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate in aerospace engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder.

The Developers

Aditya Dutt

Rescue Sim Platform, 2021-present

Aditya has been responsible for enhancing the Robotic simulation platform development since 2021. He, along with SR's director and RobocupJunior/USA , has started the first 2023 Robotics Simulation competition initiative - will be held in May. He is the type of individual who loves to create and make impactful things happened. In 2020, he founded a STEM youth workshop group called DICE where he runs free CAD workshops for middle to high school students. He attended SR from Gr. 4 to 11, and has always clealy delved in autonomous robots using Arduino, Raspberry Pi & custom circuits. With his He is a C++ Institute Certified Programmer in C.

Winston Li

Space Sim, 2021-present

Winston has been working on the Space Simulation on Webots since 2021. This project is particularly challenging as it required high level physics and math calculation (not available in HS). Winston has proved himself an unstoppable self-learner by self-teaching all required to develop this project. He has deep passion in software development and creating various types of applications, including a market analyzer and an online, chat-based game bot. Winston joined SR from 5th to 10th grade and has excelled in RCJ competitions including Line and Soccer.

Ishaan Verma

Space Sim, late 2022-present

Ishaan Verma is a long-time SR student and participated in full-autonomy Robotics Rescue Competition. He joined as an assistant since late 2022. His passion for robotics and computer vision has led him to accumulate extensive experience in structural 3D-modeling design with Open platforms. He is the founder of a community robotics club, 4-H Area14 Robotics. As a 2022 NASA SEES cohort member, he has worked with Sentinel-2 satellite data to develop AI/ML prediction models using Python GIS packages based on Geospatial Data Abstraction Library (GDAL).
